Redesigning the MyChart Mobile Experience
MyChart is one of the most widely used patient portals in the U.S., but its mobile experience often feels cluttered, outdated, and unintuitive—especially for users trying to complete routine tasks like scheduling or messaging their care team.
This redesign focuses on simplifying those high-friction moments and rethinking the core experience with clarity, empathy, and accessibility in mind. I approached the project by mapping key flows, identifying usability gaps, and designing a cleaner, more supportive interface tailored to real patient needs.
This was a solo case study, where I led everything from UX strategy and flow design to visual execution and system documentation.
Designing flows that reduce friction and support real patient needs.
To improve clarity and usability, I created focused user flows for key actions like scheduling appointments, sending messages, and managing care teams. These flows helped define priorities, expose friction points, and guide the overall structure.
Each was built to minimize cognitive load and mirror how patients naturally navigate their care—leading to a more intuitive, supportive experience.
Building consistency, clarity, and accessibility into every element.
This system includes reusable components, character styles, logos, and iconography—all designed to support a clean, unified experience across the app. I focused on creating a visual language that’s easy to navigate and scalable across future features.
Colors were tested for accessibility (WCAG AA+), and typography, spacing, and interactions were crafted to ensure clarity and ease of use—especially in high-stakes healthcare settings.
A cleaner, more intuitive patient experience—built around real needs.
The final designs bring clarity to key tasks like scheduling, messaging, and accessing care. Each screen was built to feel approachable, accessible, and purpose-driven—reducing friction and helping users stay focused on their health.
From interaction design to visual polish, every detail reflects a system designed with empathy and intention.
